Automated Foam End Capper
Automated End Capper
Accudyne designed and built a custom piece of equipment for wrapping a fiberglass cloth on to the edge of the foam blocks for processing. The fiberglass cloth was paid out, edge guided, automatically sprayed with hot melt adhesive and then continuously mated to the edge face of the foam blocks. The fabric was cut to length at the end of the block and the assembly was then automatically fed into the capping machine. Once inside the capping section, paddles on either side of the block engaged automatically to squeeze the fabric to the block and wrap the cloth around the edge of the block, up to 12’ long. Once completed the large panels with fiberglass cloth end caps were laid edge to edge in the tool mold to cure. The completed part is a fiberglass I beam stiffener used to insulate full sized railroad cars.
